1954

Foundation

Acier Simmonds has been part of the Sherbrooke scene since 1954. Founded by Cyril Simmonds, the company quickly took off in the Eastern Townships.

1983

Change of owner

Mr. Gilles David becomes the new owner, enabling Acier Simmonds to continue its development and become the benchmark in steel, aluminum and stainless steel distribution.

1997

Transbec

Acier Transbec was founded. Acier Simmonds and Acier Ménard decided to join forces with this group. Acier Transbec is the largest steel purchasing group in Quebec. It is a strategic business network that gives its members access to the best prices on the Canadian and international markets.

2018

An air of change

Mr. Gilles David passes the torch to his son Jérôme. An air of change was felt from the moment he took over as General Manager. With a new vision, he wants to take Acier Simmonds even further.

2019

Acquisition of Acier Ménard et Fils and creation of Groupe David

To continue growing, the team expands with the acquisition of Acier A. Ménard et Fils, now Acier David Ménard. The dedicated and determined Granby team joins Acier David Simmonds to expand the service offering in the Montérégie and Eastern Townships regions.

Groupe David was created in 2019, following the acquisition of Acier A. Ménard et Fils. Since then, a wind of change has been blowing through Acier David Ménard and Acier David Simmonds, thanks to major investments made in recent years. With two teams whose expertise and professionalism continue to evolve and perform, Groupe David offers its customers top-quality service. 2020

Major investments

An investment of $5 million is made to improve the company’s infrastructure and equipment. Expanding from 15,000 to 60,000 square feet, the company can now keep its entire inventory indoors, ensuring the durability and quality of its materials. With infrastructures adapted to our operations, Acier David Simmonds is playing in the big league.
